Ernest Wildenhain recently won a significant judicial decision in a case “first impression” in New Jersey dealing with telephone directory advertising claims and related contractual limitation of liability provisions. The decision also ruled favorably on claims involving consumer fraud, defamation, and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
Akiva N. Fischman has joined the firm as a summer law clerk. He is a student at Rutgers University School of Law - Newark. He is the Associate Editor of the Rutgers Law Record and will receive his J.D. in May 2009.

Debra Sahler has been elected to serve on the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey Women Lawyers, where she co-chairs the organization's Gender Equity Task Force for the 2008/2009 term. She has been appointed as co-chair for the 2009 New Jersey Women Lawyers' GALA, an annual event attended by over 500 lawyers and judges paying tribute to women's achievements.

David Minchello won two significant decisions on behalf of a municipality. Both cases involved claims on behalf of Plaintiff for injuries they allegedly sustained due to the municipality’s negligence. Two Union County Judges dismissed Plaintiffs’ complaints as Plaintiffs had failed to meet the threshold pursuant to the Tort Claims Act.
In March, Debra Sahler led a seminar on Estate Planning to members of the Women on the Move organization, a group that focuses on empowering professional women in their personal and professional lives.
Debra Sahler won two significant cases on behalf of a New Jersey-based public utility. In Bergen County, the judge ruled in favor of the utility against a Plaintiff who claimed losses and damages as a result of his failure to have telephone service. In a second case, a Superior Court judge in Morris County granted a motion for dismissal on behalf of the utility after an argument that, pursuant to a Joint Use Agreement with another utility, the firm’s client had no liability to the utility for alleged damages.
Debra Sahler was a Judge for the National Appellate Advocacy Competition (NAAC) in Brooklyn’s United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
James Ventantonio attended the ABA Litigation Section’s 2008 Ethics Centennial Symposium in Washington, D.C in April. The forum addressed the 21st century litigation environment and the role that professional standards should play.
